More and more tasks are automated in nowadays marketing, and that is why today's marketer must have appropriate skills. This applies doubly in B2B. Which skills are we talking about?

  1. Knowledge of Excel. You don't need a PhD in statistics, but an ability to work with spreadsheets, entering basic formulas and work with tables and data is necessary.
  2. Google Analytics. Ability to read basic data on the performance of websites, keyword evaluation, etc. are things today to assess how marketing influences the business.
  3. Copywriting. Nowadays, we are communicating across different channels, but it all ends with a written text, which must be written effectively and convincingly given the message and the selected channel.
  4. Copyediting text. One thing is correcting grammatical errors and misspellings, the second thing is to assess the effectiveness of the text regarding its intent.
  5. Discipline and rules for e-mail inbox. The amount of messages is increasing. The ability to sort e-mails and respond promptly to urgent ones, as well as the ability to not spend on e-mail all day, are a key part of the success and good productivity of a marketer.
  6. Task management system. One should be able to map out what needs to be done now, what about tomorrow, what are the targets and how they will be achieved.
  7. High tolerance to chaos and change. Modern marketing is very dynamic, and the ability to adapt to change and respond quickly is essential. This skill often determines whether or not a marketer is successful.
  8. The ability to ask precise questions. It is what determines how quickly you get to the heart of the matter and how you recognize whether you've made sufficient effort. The better you ask, the better you can customize marketing activities and do what really is important.
