It's only two years old and it has gained real popularity only this year. It is meant to be used as a notice board, and its effect in marketing and PR is expected to grow. It's called Pinterest.

  • So far, it was used mainly by women, but the latest study showed the percentage ratio of users 70:30 in favor of women. Which means that the number of male users is certainly not negligible. In addition, the percentage of male visitors is higher outside the U.S..
  • People spend on Pinterest a longer time than on competing networks. One reason is the user-friendly mobile version. On Facebook, people spend on average 12 minutes per visit, while on Pinterest it's 16 minutes.
  • Pinterest discourages self promotion. Companies must convince users indirectly. The key is a good idea, wit and simplicity.
  • The third largest social network reported 104 million visitors in March this year. In comparison, the second largest, Twitter, had 182 million, and the fourth rank went to LinkedIn with 86 million visiotrs. It is likely to expect a further surge in popularity of Pinterest.
