All you need to know about social media you learned from your mom

We all keep looking for information about social media published by various experts. However, the basic facts about how they work and how to interact there - you have learned that all from your mother. Do you still remember?

  1. Avoid patting yourself on the back too much. Nobody likes people who talk only about themselves all the time and how wonderful they are. This applies to both, online and offline communication.
  2. When you have nothing good to say about people, you'd better be quiet. Everyone has a right to disagree with you, but they should not be afraid of a personal attack. If you do not like what someone is saying, make sure to attack the idea, not the person.
  3. If you do not do something now, when will you do it then? If you want to be present on social media, go ahead. Choose a target group, specify what you want to achieve and how to involve people, and eventually get a technology that allows you to implement your strategy.
  4. I don't care what everyone is doing. I want to know what you're doing! You've certainly heard that many times. This is also true in marketing. It is appropriate to see what others are doing. But you yourself need to choose your route based on your needs, abilities and talents. Involvement in social media must be sustainable, otherwise it will not work in the long run. This means that you must build on your skills and not someone else's idea.
  5. Learn to say "sorry" and mean it! If you make a mistake, don't hide it. Admit the error, explain how it happened and say how you plan to fix it. If you are honest within your community, it will be easier to re-gain their confidence.
